Overview

The Sims Social, developed by Playfish and published by EA Games, is a virtual game from the Sims world. The Sims Social mmo can be played on Facebook. The only requirement to access it is a Facebook account. Everything happens in a virtual location known as Littlehaven. Players start by making an avatar. The Sims Social has lots of avatar customization options. Players get to choose their avatar’s personality, hair styles, physical traits and outfits. In The Sims Social world players interact with friends from their Facebook list. NPCs based on famous people can be seen all around Littlehaven. Avatars (or sims) need a place to live. There are multiple choices here. The buildings vary from modest homes to luxury residences. Every home can have its interior decorated and personalized. You also have to take care of your garden. A house can increase its value.

Avatars in The Sims Social mmo have 6 skills: art, music, writing, sports, driving and cooking. Skills advance in level when players interact with related objects of appropriate levels. For example, interacting with a stove will increase cooking or using a car will increase the driving skill. Skills allow sims to acquire various items. Some items can be used for crafting. Sims make use of their skills to complete quests too. Players can build careers for their sims. There are 3 career categories: Chef, Artist and Rocker. There are 5 levels needed to be completed for a career. Each level has an additional 3 sub levels. Sims get a job, go to work and earn Career Points. Sims can abandon a career and choose a new one. Sims have traits that define their personality. Some traits are expert cook, art fan or great kisser. There are 12 in total. Traits can be unlocked with lifetime points. Every trait has 3 or 5 sub levels. Just like humans, sims have needs. If needs aren’t fulfilled, players lose control of their avatars. Sims with all needs met are inspired. There are advantages for inspired sims.

Simoleons is a type of currency used in The Sims Social virtual world. Sims get simoleons from quests or other tasks. The other currency is SimCash. It can be earned for playing The Sims Social for 5 days in a row. It also can be bought with real money. The Sims Social mmo is all about social interaction. The more sims friends you have, the easier life in Littlehaven is. Friends send each other items as gifts. Sometimes these items are needed for quests, decorations and so on. There is always the option to pay with SimCash. The Sims Social avatars can interact between themselves and with NPCs. They can be friends or rivals or even pursue a romantic relationship. With more than 30 million users, Sims Social is among the most played browser games.
