During E3, Microsoft confirmed that the popular virtual worlds game is coming to their next-gen console and will be named Minecraft: Xbox One Edition.

Watch this freshly dug trailer:

In the accompanying YouTube description for the teaser video, Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will boast of larger maps, expanded multiplayer features, and "feature enhancements powered by the Xbox One platform."

The new and improved features are a bid to replicate or even surpass the success of Minecraft in the Xbox 360.

The Minecraft Xbox 360 version has 6 million gamers, 1 billion hours played and 130 million worlds created.

The introduction of bigger worlds and bigger multiplayer is expected to increase the creative and social immersion among fans of the hit virtual worlds game. While the promise of a bigger multiplayer will not likely equate to anything close to MMORPG scale, it might just allow fans to play simultaneously with a dozen of their closest pals for massive creative projects.

Minecraft: Xbox One edition is also expected to receive a visual boost as it begins using the more powerful systems of the Xbox One, the next-gen successor of Xbox 360.

Xbox One will cost $499 and is now available for pre-order.
