World of Warplanes Finally Launches Its Open Beta
The high-flying combat MMO World of Warplanes has been in closed beta for a very long time now, while Wargaming was hard at work making sure it was in pristine condition before they set it loose into the wild.
Well, the time has finally come for fans of aviation history to test drive one of the most accurate plane combat simulators ever created, since World of Warplanes is now in open beta.
A more accurate description comes from an official press release: "Featuring planes from the United States, the Soviet Union, Germany and Japan, players will be able to jump into white-knuckle 15 vs. 15 PvP matches, where supremacy of the skies is determined not only by skill, but also coordinated teamwork and cooperation."
And the folks at Wargaming are certainly excited for this. Victor Kislyi, the company's CEO, had this to say: "We thank every single World of Warplanes player out there, whether they're just getting into the game during open beta or have been with us since the very start. The game has grown and evolved tremendously since we first announced it and I'm confident virtual pilots are going to be extremely excited when they get behind the cockpits of the game's truly amazing warbirds."
The open beta is already live in North America and Russia, and will be available in Europe on July 4th. While the game isn't ready to merge with its older brother World of Tanks quite yet, the Unified Premium Account system, which allows you to carry over premium account benefits from one title to the other, will be live toward the end of World of Warplanes' open beta.
