World of Warcraft's recruit-a-friend program has returned
World of Warcraft's recruit-a-friend campaign is back. Patch 5.4.1 for the decade-old MMO is out, and in the run-up, we have been blinded and distracted by it's shiny new features, like the introduction of the fantastical Hippogryph mount and the Bernard's pet, and failed to notice an old favorite returning.
The recruit-a-friend program has always done well in World of Warcraft, as have all of its fanbase-increasing campaigns, rewarding players for successfully inviting new players into the MMORPG and showing them how to successfully elf it up.
The older system required you to send invites via your battle.net account, but now players will be able to invite directly from the World of Warcraft mailing system.
Simply open up your messenger and click on the shiny new "Recruit a Friend" button and enter your n00by friend's email address. You can even attach a message telling them how much they're missing out as the new Warlords of Draenor rolls in!
Once the message has been sent, all your friend needs to do is click the link and follow the instructions, purchase some game-time and, just like that, the rewards are yours!
Rewards currently advertised include a range of mounts and pets; from previous rewards, like the Golden Pig pet, to the X-53 Touring rocket, to the fabled Hippogryph itself!
It's been noted recently that World of Warcraft's player-base has started to wane so, for Azeroth, recruit a friend!
