World of Warcraft confirms the fabled Hippogryph
World of Warcraft patch 5.4.1 is almost here, and today, it hit the public test servers, for the first time, giving an insight into what changes we can expect from the MMO heavyweight.
The most significant of its updates comes in the form of its mythical new mount, the Emerald Hippogryph! Hippogryphs have been as mythical in World of Warcraft as they have been in real life, with images of them popping up throughout the MMORPG's history. So, when images of another special Hippogryph mount hit the World of Warcraft forums earlier this month, claiming to have been data-mined from the public test, cries of hoax and shenanigans resonated throughout the Realm of Azeroth. At long last, however, the public test of the update can confirm the beasts existence in its latest mini-patch.
Known most notoriously for its Harry Potter appearance, the Hippogryph has the head of an eagle, the body of a horse and the claws of a lion, with the ability of flight.
The mount will be available as a recruit-a-friend reward and can allegedly be claimed by people who are yet to claim the Nightwing reward from the current campaign. So, hold onto your reward entitlement just a little longer if you've still got one!
The Hippogryph, when obtained will also grant you a special achievement titled "Friends In Places Even Higher Than That".
Along with the mount, the patch also features 2 new pets; The Crusader Murloc pet, for BlizzCon Virtual Ticket-holders, and the Bernard, a giant St Bernard's Hound complete with brandy barrel.
