Help Sandy victims by adopting World of Warcraft's Cinder Kitten pet
Until December 31, 2012 the entire $10 you spend purchasing the Cinder Kitten pet will be donated to the American Red Cross’s Superstorm Sandy relief efforts.
“This support will enable the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, emotional support, and other assistance to victims of this disaster” said Blizzard in a release announcing the new World of Warcraft charity pet. Superstorm Sandy was a hurricane that devastated the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern portions of the United States in late October.
The Cinder Kitten pet combines “the cuteness of a newborn cat with the searing magma of the Elemental Plane of Fire,” according to its official description at the Blizzard store. As with all pets, the Cinder Kitten will be unlocked on all current and future World of Warcraft characters on a single Battle.net account after purchase.
Boasting not only a strikingly cute appearance, the Cinder Kitten pet also boasts Rare-quality stats and a ferocious combat kit that make it a must-have collectible for the Blizzard online rpg. “This not-so-cool cat uses many Beast abilities in addition to Dragonkin and Elemental, and can also Prowl, Leap, and Rend its way to a 3-hit combo against its foes—and look good doing it” said Blizzard.
The Cinder Kitten pet continues Blizzard’s tradition of using charity pets in its mmorpg to rally funds for different causes. During last year’s disastrous earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan, World of Warcraft also released the charity pet Cenarion Hatchling which went on to raise roughly $2 million for relief efforts. That number could be matched this time around, particularly with the timing of the sale during the cash-flush holiday season.
