world of warcraft 3 expansions discounts

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria is about to launch, but you can’t play the fourth expansion of the massively mutiplayer rpg without first owning the base game and the three previous expansions.

Luckily, Blizzard has gone ballistic with the discounts and is offering all four pre-requisite World of Warcraft games for a relatively cheap $20. Breaking down the discounted prices per game:

  • $5 for World of Warcraft Battle Chest (includes original World of Warcraft MMORPG and first expansion The Burning Crusade
  • $5 for second expansion Wrath of the Lich King
  • $10 for third expansion Cataclysm

The heavily discounted games can be bought separately, so if you already have the base game and the first expansion The Burning Crusade, you only have to spend $15 for the Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm expansion upgrades.

As for the upcoming Mists of Pandaria, its basic edition will set you back $39.99 – now the standard price for new AAA online rpg expansions. There is also the more expensive Collector’s Edition at $79.99, which has more bells and whistles, including freebie pets and mounts, than the basic version.

These discounts last until August 27, 2012 at 11:59 PM, so if you’re itching to play as the Pandaren race, then now’s definitely the right time to get up to speed on your World of Warcraft game archive.
