Dev tools and Starter Edition boosts arrive in StarCraft 2 patch 2.1
StarCraft 2 patch 2.1 has left the public test servers and is now Live. The patch is being systematically implemented across all regions throughout the week. The patch itself is pretty comprehensive and can be viewed on the official StarCraft 2 website. However, here's a quick rundown of some of the key elements, and the bigger additions that fans of the intergalactic rpg have been hoping to see:
1. Free Arcade
The Arcade, complete with all maps, mods and customizations has been made available for all players. That means you; Starter Edition players! can now play as Terran, Protoss and Zerg freely, and across all maps, mods and games, free of charge.
All classic StarCraft and StarCraft: Brood War soundtracks have been lovingly remastered and can be played in-game.
3. Clan and Group improvements
Your Clans and Groups can now upload custom images to be used as icons and decals. Events can now be scheduled and announced through the addition of a new events tab, which can be found on the Clan and Groupd Windows. Lastly, frustrations have been eased thanks to a new inactive player function, that pulls inactive users from lobbies after a set period.
4. Editing and Modding
The editing suite has also received some tweaks and has been made fully accessible to all players. New, pre-made mod extensions have been added and can be modded onto any custom game.
The level cap has been raised, from 30 to 35, with new rewards at the 32 and 35 milestones.
As mentioned, the update is gradually being launched across the week, so keep an eye out in your own area for the changes to be applied.
