Kerrigan exacts vengeance in new StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm expansion
The Queen of Blades mobilizes her zerg brood to deliver dark retribution to Arcturus Mengsk starting March 12.
StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm is the first expansion to StarCraft 2, which with the subtitle “Wings of Liberty” focused its campaign content on the Terran race. This expansion shifts to the Zerg point-of-view, as Kerrigan rekindles war against the Terran Dominion.
Heart of the Swarm brings new units, features and content to the strategy rpg. This includes a 20-mission Kerrigan zerg campaign, new multiplayer unites and maps, and improved online features “that make StarCraft 2 more fun and easier to learn than ever before,” said developer Blizzard Entertainment.
Kerrigan also becomes deeply customizable, almost like an MMORPG character, with a powerful array of abilities. from which players can select. She can also evolve zerg strains to create deadly new subspecies that enhance her brood strength.
Among the new game systems and features, the most notable are the group and clan systems, training and versus AI modes, unranked matchmaking, and Global Play options. Quality-of-play improvements will also be rolled out such as additional stat tracking, UI upgrades, an enhanced physics system and better online profile customization.
Blizzard has confirmed that after StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm, it will release another expansion for a complete trilogy, with the last installment titled StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void centering around the Protoss race.
