Season 2014 kicks off in StarCraft 2
Ladies and gentlemen, Zerg, Protoss and Terran; prime those Stargates, spread your Creep and brief your Marines, StarCraft 2 Season 2014 starts here!
The 2013 season has been, without a doubt, the most electrifying, high stakes, show stopping season to date and has shown the world that although it has a few grey hairs, the mmorts is here to stay, and stronger than ever.
The hiatus has only been around a month long, but for the competitive mmo community, it has felt like an eternity, and at long last season 2014 is here, and ready to go.
As the bonus pools and standings wind back to zero, we're greeted with not only a fresh start, but 2 entirely new pools; the 1v1 and 2v2 ladder map pools, giving you a whole new way to mix up your match-ups.
Players have been granted a free name change, to start the year, and season, off afresh, and some significant changes have been lined up with regards to the overbearing nature of the Protoss race.
"While the results data we’re getting isn’t so clear...we do agree that other races can’t go on offense as easily as we’d like against Protoss early on"
The StarCraft 2 developers aim to weaken the Mothership Core, by knocking down the Photon Overcharge duration; allowing Terran and Zerg players to throw out early harassment and capitalize against defensive Protoss plays. They are also, rather timidly, buffing up the burrow move speed of Roaches, fearing that someone will find an exploit for it, but wanting to see some more creative Roach plays at the same time. Lastly, the developers are keen to up Terran's Mech, making it an easier route for players to take.
The devs want your opinion on the changes being made, so feel free to weigh in on the official community forums.
