A new digital expansion is headed to Star Wars: The Old Republic
Recently, we reported on the possibility of galactic housing in Star Wars: The Old Republic. Earlier in March, Bioware launched a subtle, "Welcome Home" teaser trailer that suggested fans of the sci-fi mmorpg would soon be able to take hold of some Star Wars real-estate.
The cosmic mists have now cleared, and the developers have confirmed that in-game housing will be a new feature in their next, free to play, digital expansion. Star Wars: The Old Republic's Galactic Strongholds expansion will provide guilds with housing and common rooms, in order to scheme and plot out their next quests. Players will be able to personalize their strongholds, adorning them with furniture, decorations and even enormous, gilded statues, to demonstrate their might, and will even be able to choose from a variety of different planets to make themselves at home in.
Strongholds will earn prestige for their inhabitants every time new decorations are acquired, and will grant players with additional storage, shared across their entire legacy. In addition to the new land-space, clans will also be able to gather in newly-added Guild Flagships, in amongst their faction's starship fleet.
Early access for the mmo expansion has been slated for their subscription members, from June 24th and Bioware have already began launching promotions to entice subscribers. Bonus Cartel Coins are up for grabs for early subscribers, and players signing up before May 11th will get their very own Nar Shaddaa Sky Palace, with an additional three rooms unlocked, worth a total of 1,500,000 credits; just for being the early birds.
