Star Trek Online content plans for 2013 revealed
The space mmorpg game will be getting at least two major updates this year along with a level cap increase and playable Jem’Hadar ships.
Executive producer Dan Stahl spent his latest Ask Cryptic blog post answering questions from fans about the upcoming plans for Star Trek Online. He confirmed that the Season 8 update will be coming out in the first half of 2013, while Season 9 will be released on the second half.
In between these two major updates, there will be new missions, scenarios and episodes added – which should delight fans craving for new content to complete. These fresh challenges will come with corresponding rewards, such as a whole new tier of gear.
Jem’Hadar ships will also be playable soon when the Dominion Lock Box gets released. Stahl also said that Star Trek Online will push its storyline forward with a new adventure zone. Annual events should continue to provide welcome breaks from the grind, with a possible mid-year event and a Winter holiday event.
For the more competitive Star Trek Online players, the development team plans to roll out large-scale PvP and PvE scenarios that will pit one’s performance against hundreds of other participants. These are expected to bring together the community, similar to world bosses and server-wide challenges in other rpg games online.
