Skyforge joins forces with Obsidian
This week, the talk of the town is Skyforge; a new, sci-fi inspired fantasy mmo. Skyforge is being developed by Allods team, known best for (you guessed it) the worldly acclaimed, free to play fantasy, Allods Online.
Not much is known about Skyforge yet, other than its roots, and the premise of high-action combat in beautiful, virtual worlds, between immortals and the gods.
Allods Online required some heavy, worldwide involvement, with a staggering total of 15 different localizations at present, and it seems that Skyforge will be going the same way. Today it was announced that RPG powerhouse, Obsidian will have a hand on the reigns for the Western portion of its development.
Obsidian's CEO, Feargus Urquhart announced the Obsidian/Skyforge partnership today, in line with their attendance at the Russian Game Developer's Conference. Obsidian Entertainment are already set up for a strong year, due to their work on the immensely popular South Park: The Stick of Truth and their crowdfunded project, Pillars of Eternity.
According to Allods Team, Skyforge has been in development, in the background, since 2010, and is slated to be their most ambitious project to date. The beta launch hasn't been given a release date yet, but Allods Team are already accepting applications. You can sign up now, via the official Skyforge website.
