Path of Exile unlocks open beta January 23
More than 50% of Act 3 will be playable in the open beta, promises Path of Exile developer Grinding Gear Games.
The action rpg will shift from the current closed beta to open beta on January 24, having raised more than $1.8 million in crowd-funded support. Those supporters will gain earlier access to the open beta, which promises an exciting storyline as players “explore abandoned docks, markets, temples, and sewers in the ruined city of Sarn to further uncover the dark truth of their exile.”
"We're excited to have reached the point where we can finally throw open the doors and invite everyone in," said Chris Wilson, producer for Grinding Gear Games. "We have one of the best and most supportive communities on the Internet, and their input has been invaluable in making Path of Exile what it is. We hope they'll be delighted with all the new content."
Grinding Gear Games confirmed that there will be no further character wipes in the once open beta begins. Fans are also reminded that time is running out for them to purchase the kiwi bird pet – a permanent pet similar to those found in mmo games and can only be bought while the closed beta lasts.
