Neverwinter set to launch on June 20, first content expansion detailed
Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios have made it official: Neverwinter is set to launch as of June 20. The anticipated, free-to-play Dungeons & Dragons MMO launch features will include access to the Dwarven city of Gauntlgrym, featuring PvP and PvE areas for players who have made level 60. This will give players a chance to hunt for treasures across the vast expanse of Gauntlgrym as new challenges await players who dare venture into its outer reaches, where the most difficult challenges to date are waiting for unsuspecting players.
In addition to the launch announcement, Cryptic and Perfect World have detailed the first major Neverwinter content expansion in the works. Announced back on May 9, Fury of the Feywild will be arriving later this summer. Upon launch of the Feywild expansion, players will have the opportunity to venture into the elven city of Sharandar in a bid to stop a rather hostile takeover by the Fomorian Giants. A public Neverwinter preview server will also be provided for select players to have a chance at testing the Feywild content, in addition to other future content expansions. More information on both the Feywild content and preview server will be provided at a later date.
All of the content, which is being rolled out for the next several months, will have something for everyone including both newcomers and veterans of the Dungeons & Dragons series, in addition to those of the Neverwinter MMO itself. From the core of Neverwinter itself, to Sharandar and Gauntlgrym, there's plenty of treasures, dungeons and mobs just waiting to challenge even the most seasoned Dungeons & Dragons fans and MMO players out there. And while you sit back and wait for the launch to kick into gear, here's a preview trailer for your viewing pleasure:
