Neverwinter Playable Demos in Gamescom, Gen Con Indy and PAX Prime
All three conventions this August will be featuring a sneak peek of Neverwinter, the highly anticipated MMO adaptation of the rpg classic, set to release in “early 2013.”
Publisher Perfect World Entertainment said that a newly built demo for Neverwinter will be available for testing during Gamescom (Aug 15 – 19) and PAX Prime (Aug 31 – Sep 2). The demo will focus on the Events feature and the Blackdagger Ruins zone.
Press members attending both conventions can also score an exclusive look at the Foundry, the user-generated content creation tool for the free online rpg.
“This small taste of the massive, free mmorpg, Neverwinter, highlights one of the game’s many public events that are designed to offer players something new to do every single day,” Perfect World said in a release.
Meanwhile, Gen Con Indy attendees will get a chance to playtest one of three pre-made Drow characters and pick a fight with the pirate Lord Traven Blackdagger in a hands-on demo exclusive for the convention.
Along with these convention demos, Perfect World Entertainment confirmed the release date for the action MMORPG for “early 2013” which it said will provide developer Cryptic Studios “even more time to add additional content and extra features. Such content includes a robust PvP system.”

Gamescom is currently under way in Cologne, Germany; Gen Con Indy is also ongoing at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, Indiana; and PAX Prime will be held at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, Washington.
