Neverwinter third expansion announced as Curse of Icewind Dale
Pack up your snow survival gear! We're heading to the cold, unforgiving heart of Icewind Dale for Neverwinter: Curse of Icewind Dale, the third free expansion module for the fantasy online rpg.
Perfect World Entertainment confirmed the free expansion module's title and namesake location in a new blog post, and is scheduled to come out "later this spring." Can't you feel the deathly chill just watching this Neverwinter Curse of Icewind Dale reveal trailer?
Both PvE and PvP fans have plenty to look forward to in the upcoming free mmo expansion.
Questers and levelers can explore the iconic region of Icewind Dale, which has been recreated in Neverwinter. Fans of this mythical land (many R.A. Salvatore novels and video games took place here) can look forward to camping in Caer-Konig, which will serve as the main player hub for Icewind Dale adventuring.
Two new zones will be opened up -- Icewind Pass and Dwarven Valley. Both zones will offer PvE and PvP content.
PvP battlers will fight over the new Black Ice resource, said to be "extremely valuable" and a source of fierce contention among Icewind Dale denizens.
We believe the Black Ice resource will be components for making the new Black Ice gear, which are said to provide "greatly increased", albeit temporary, stat bonuses.
PvP fans should also experience a more enjoyable matchmaking experience now that the system has been extensively revamped to encourage balance, reward consistency and display the most valiant combatants via public leaderboards.
These are just a taste of what the new expansion will bring to the online rpg. See the tentative list of Curse of Icewind Dale features, but remember these are still subject to change over the course of development and testing.
