Navy Field 2 is a naval military MMO real-time strategy game from Nexon. Players will be able to replay and participate in historical battles from World War I and II, including the most decisive confrontations of those wars such as the Battle of Midway and the last battle of the Bismarck.
Naval warfare is at the heart of combat in Navy Field 2, and players will need to take full control of powerful vessels in challenging campaigns and multiplayer skirmishes. These vessels include submarines, carriers, and battleships that were in use at the time of the two world wars. Historical accuracy is a main selling point of Navy Field 2, so players can expect to face the same critical decisions that admirals faced during those conflicts. Just imagine joining the Battle of Midway, the most important fight in the Pacific campaign during World War II, where the US and Allied forces crushed the Imperial Japanese forces, ultimately turning the tides of war in their favor after the sneak attack on American base, Pearl Harbor.
Ship customization is also a core focus in this new RPG strategy simulation. Players can build their fleets from hundreds of ships, and equip them with weapons and armor. Navy Field 2 also delivers PvP in true MMO style with dozens of other players allowed to fight in a single conflict at the same time. For those who enjoy working together rather than sinking each other’s ships, there will be special co-op missions that can be tackled by smaller groups of coordinated players.
History buffs should also look forward to discovering the naval technology used by the seven major nations that figured in either World War I or II. Serving as a sailor or admiral for one of these nations, you can work your way up the chain of command and continually upgrade your ship from the lowliest gunner to dominating destroyers, strategic aircraft carriers, cunning submarines and brawny battleships.
Those expecting fast-paced action will be a bit disappointed. This real-time tactical online RPG focuses more on calculated deployments and battlefield maneuvering. Sure, plenty of ships will be blown up during each campaign, but players will be acting as commanders directing the flow of units rather than personally controlling a cannon to blow up targets.
Navy Field 2 is a spiritual sequel to the original NAVYField military simulation from SD EnterNet, which is also based on World War II. Many of the features found in the original were carried over to the sequel, including the basic systems for ship progression and ship customization. The sequel though seems to be more ambitious in scope, offering more ship types, campaigns, missions, playable nations, and ship upgrades. Graphics also made a huge leap in quality.
