Might and Magic Clash of Heroes is a hybrid puzzle and turn-based strategy RPG game from developer Capybara Games and publisher Ubisoft. The game lets you control five young protagonists in the fantasy world of Ashan, each one driven to the war path when a demon begins his evil machinations. Through various circumstances, each of the young protagonists end up leading their respective factions: Godric and his Haven knights, Aidan and his Inferno demons, Anwen and her Sylvan elves, Nadia and her Academy wizards and Fiona and her Necropolis necromancers. Players are still able to explore maps, recruit an army and manage resources like previous titles in the Might and Magic strategy rpg games, but combat involves placing troops in a puzzle-based grid. Stacking troops will unleash attacks that will decimate your enemy forces or directly damage the enemy leader. When an enemy leader hits zero HP, you win the match and get to earn experience points. Might and Magic Clash of Heroes offers a separate campaign for each centering on each faction protagonist.
Each faction army can field either basic troops or advanced troops. Basic troops are unlimited and can be spammed during battles. Stacking basic troops unleashes attacks that are relatively weaker. Elite troops are limited and need to be replenished at certain points in the map. Stacking elite troops unleashes attacks that are much stronger, even capable of destroying entire lines and rows of enemy units. The key to winning in Might and Magic Clash of Heroes lies in balancing your use of these two troop types. Protagonist heroes each possess special abilities that interact with the puzzle battlefield, dealing damage or supporting their current units. These can be improved when a protagonist wears artifacts earned from exploring the game world. Advanced players will also learn how to set off combos, chains, links and fusions to further improve their attacks and defenses. These are essential puzzle skills that are taught in the tutorial tips in-game but are mastered only through repeated practice.
Aside from its five sprawling single-player campaigns, Might and Magic Clash of Heroes delivers a free online rpg multiplayer mode. Players can connect online to fight in head-to-head puzzle battles, and even compete for the highest scores in online mmo style leaderboards. There is also an online 2-vs-2 competitive mode where two pairs of players fight together, sharing troops and life points, and will surely test your teamwork.
