Mac fans can soon get their hands on the superhero free to play mmo, Marvel Heroes. Gazillion has just revealed that closed beta testing will kick off this late February.

"We've always wanted to release on Mac and we're proud to announce our closed beta test," said David Brevik, CEO, Gazillion. "Marvel Heroes continues to grow and improve at an astounding rate. Giving Mac players an opportunity to suit up and save the world is a good next step for us and one we're happy to take."

The announcement came as Marvel Heroes marks the release of Game Update 2.2 Forge of Asgard, which focuses on improving item and character customization in the online rpg.

Central to the Marvel Heroes 2.2 patch is the all-new Asgardian-themed crafting system, which players can use to combine up to five Runes with Uru-Forged items and create devastatingly powerful items for their favorite superheroes.

If you're a Diablo series veteran, then you'll have a pretty good idea of how Runewords work, which imbue items with defensive and offensive bonuses as well as unique effects.

Runes open up fantastic new build options for the likes of Spider-Man and Thor, who can now have access to abilities like invisibility, healing and even the chance to grow to the size of a Storm Giant. Some also enhance existing Ultimate abilities, pushing it to beyond rank 20.
