Magic 2014 Duels of the Planeswalkers is a strategy TCG developed by Stainless Games and published by Wizards of the Coast LLC. Since 1993 when the first Magic: The Gathering game saw the light of day and until present times, this game series become the most popular TCG. Its huge playerbase numbers millions of members and it’s easily comparable to MMO games. Magic 2014 tutorial makes it easy for new players to get the hang of the game. It neatly details all basic concepts and mechanics. Veteran players will enjoy the latest additions like new decks, encounters, puzzle challenges and a new story line. A single player campaign allows gamers to explore Magic 2014 lore. Shandalar, Innistrad and Ravnica are only a few of the planes featured in the solo mode missions. The core gameplay feature is card battles. Players are called planeswalkers and they are mages that wield immense powers through their game cards and decks. All starting players receive a deck and booster packs. Colors are used to categorize Magic 2014 cards (spells and creatures). There are 5 colors: white, blue, black, red and green. White cards focus on healing spells, buffs and debuffs. With blue cards you can block spells or take cards from your enemies. Beware of black cards as this color represents best offensive abilities in Magic 2014. Red cards share some similarities with blue cards but also have characteristic spells. Green’s strength lies in the creature cards. Green units have good offense and survivability. Card balancing is a constant challenge for Magic 2014 creators. There are 249 available cards. Decks are sets of Magic 2014 cards and they can be roughly compared to roles in RPG games. Play style is determined by the played deck. Cards can be also categorized based on their rarity. Players get new cards from the game store or by trading with other players.
The Deckbuilder’s Toolkit is a deck editor for players to build custom decks. This toolkit comes with 4 booster packs each containing 15 cards, 125 initial cards and a tutorial. Magic 2014 hosts MMO tournaments and contests where best players can test their skills and strategies. There are also events held in locations all over the world that give players the chance to meet in person. Magic 2014 is available for desktop computers (PC and Mac), mobile systems (iOS and Android) and gaming consoles (Xbox 360 and Play Station 3).
