Infinity Wars beams in Star Trek: The Next Generation cards in April
In a tie-up that's sure to please Trekkers everywhere, indie developer Lightmare studios has secured the license to publish Star Trek: The Next Generation-themed cards in the trading card rpg.
The Infinity Wars Star Trek: Next Generation cards coming this April will allow players to place their favorite Star Trek characters in the captain's chair and send them into battle.
It also won't be a one-off partnership deal, with new factions, including Starfleet and the Klingon Empire, to be introduced plus an all-new play ability known as "Piloting."
"We are a small indie team but our latest incarnations, honoring the timeless Star Trek: The Next Generation, have never made me so proud of our crew," said Lightmare Studios CEO, Elphie Coyle.
"This, along with our recent expectation-shattering success on Steam Early Access, the upcoming mobile companion app, and our supportive fans, makes me believe that we are poised to make solid dent in the trading card game (TCG) Multiverse with Infinity Wars," he added.
Infinity Wars has seen a surge of play from fans since its public release in February, with over 2.5 million matches played. MMO TCG fans have in particular raved about their mix of intuitive turn-based combat, expansive card selection and active trading card market where players can earn, sell, trade, buy and win new cards.
