A Hearthstone expansion is in the making
When the competitive card game, Hearthstone went into open beta, it meant one thing to many; that the cards had been balanced and finalized. In short, we were seeing a complete set of cards, like in Magic or Heroes of Might and Magic, and that it we could start to settle down and come up with some definitive card strategies in the card-wielding mmo.
Blizzard, however, had something else in mind and have suggested that an expansion, with a host of new cards could be on its way, to mix things up in our near future.
Hearthstone's executive producer, Hamilton Chu has revealed information that indicates a single player quest mode new stages and new cards, which will be based on more fabled, fantasy characters from the mmorpg classic, World of Warcraft. Rumors of the cards expanding into the other Blizzard franchises, such as Diablo and StarCraft have been left, still in the water.
Additions to the in-game store are on the way too, including new board styles and card details. Blizzard and their team have stressed that purchasable in the game will not affect the balance, and they are steering well clear of an "pay to win" potential, so its more than likely that the in-game purchasables will be purely cosmetic.
