The Wintersday festivities have begun in Guild Wars and will last until July 31.

ArenaNet has revealed its plans for the week-long event, including holiday PvP in Snowball Arena.

Anyone in the mmorpg can talk to the Wintersday Priest in Ascalon City, Droknar's Forge, the Great Temple of Balthazar, Kamadan or Lion's Arch to enter the Arena and attempt to earn Candy Cane Shards.

Shards will be handed out for participating in the Guild Wars Wintersday event, with victors receiving more, and can then be traded for those wonderful Wintersday Gifts.

The Arena is the main feature for this Wintersday, but those who opt to slay some monsters in the open world will also be rewarded with several limited-time items. These include the Frosty Tonic, which lets you turn into a loveable snowman, and yummy consumables such as Eggnog and Fruitcake.

For those participating in their first-ever Wintersday, the Arena plays out as a snowball fight between two sides who attempt to one-up each other in sending presents to their god, whether it is Dwayna or Grenth.

Veterans of the online rpg will find the Arena has not changed much at all from previous years, and the familiar tactics such as purposely dying to resurrect at the shrine.
