It's Getting Hot as Guild Wars 2 Announces Path of Fire Expansion

Guild Wars 2 Path of Fire announced

It took three full years before Guild Wars 2 saw its first expansion, but the mmo is moving a lot faster when it comes to their second one. ArenaNet today announced that players can look forward to the upcoming Guild Wars 2 Path of Fire expansion that is slated to be released in less than two months from now. It's kind of mind-boggling not to have months and months of hype and sneak peeks offered up about this expansion, but I'm sure players are much happier knowing that they're going to get their hands on it very soon.

The Guild Wars 2 Path of Fire expansion will be released on September 22nd, and players can pre-purchase it now for $29.99 for the Standard Edition. The Deluxe Edition costs $54.99 while the Ultimate Edition costs $79.99. The GW2 Path of Fire update has the players striving against Balthazar, the god of fire and war, who seeks to destroy the Elder Dragons, even at the expense of all mortal life. Players will have to confront his army that is set to cut a path of terror and destruction across the south of Tyria.

There are some very interesting features to look forward to in the Guild Wars 2 Path of Fire expansion. First is there will be five new world zones added to the mmorpg, and these zones are located in the Crystal Desert. ArenaNet says that the zones are the largest ones they have created for the game. Mounts are finally coming to the game with the release of Path of Fire. There are four mounts (raptor, skimmer, jackal, and springer), and each mount has their own movement ability and can get to places other mounts cannot. Mounts are tied into the Mastery system, and each mount has a combat ability to help players in combat.

Elite specializations are another core aspect of GW2 Path of Fire. These elite specializations include: Guardian - Firebrand (burns enemies and conjures tomes to aid allies, gives up instant support in favor of casted support), Necromancer - Scourge (gives up Death Shroud and gives life force to the earth in order to protect allies), Thief - Deadeye (uses rifle-based ranged attacks like a sniper), Mesmer - Mirage (can camouflage into their surroundings and attack foes from all sides, has new dodge mechanic where enemies pass through them), Warrior - Spellbreaker (can cut magic off their foes by using daggers, can stop skills and cut enemy boons), Elementalist - Weaver (can attune two different elements at the same time and can combine them as well for more powerful effects), Ranger - Soulbeast (can become their pet and use the abilities of their companion and its archetype), Revenant - Renegade (can summon a charr warband as well as portals behind enemies to shoot arrows through), and Engineer - Holosmith (bends light and uses it as a weapon).

It looks like there's a ton of stuff in the Guild Wars 2 Path of Fire expansion. You can read more about it here.
