Guild Wars 2's second annual Halloween event has fresh items, scarier challenges and a bloody new boss.

Going live today, the Halloween Blood and Madness update and its line-up of freaky festivities will spend two weeks spooking the MMORPG masses.

Watch this Blood and Madness trailer to get a scintillating taste of what's coming:

This year Guild Wars 2 players will have to battle the Bloody Prince Edrick, son of Oswald Thorn, who has taken over as the supreme tormentor in the Mad King's Labyrinth. He leads the reprised cast of dungeon lieutenants such as The Skeletal Lich, Grand High Viscount of Candy Corn and the Labyrinthine Horro.

The Halloween update also sees the return of arguably the most hair-raising jumping puzzle in the subscription free online rpg -- The Mad King's Clocktower. We remember fans spending hours, even days, trying to conquer this extremely manic jumping marathon, and this year we're eager to see if developers have toned down the challenge or even made it devilishly harder.

Fans are also invited to travel to Kryta this year to clear the waves of monsters pouring out of the Haunted doors, if only to complete the Blood and Madness meta achievement. Completion will reward you with a Mini Candy Corn Elemental, and open up a storyline that could net you a cool Candy Corn node for your home instance.

And lastly, drool over the bag of redeemable treats once you collect enough Candy Corn -- from the Mini Bloody Prince, to a 20-slot Halloween Pail to special crafting items you'll need to forge those wickedly awesome Halloween weapons.
