Sony announces PS4 launch dates for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
Last night, the PlayStation Awards of 2013 came to Japan and celebrated all of Sony's hard work; showcasing their upcoming releases and giving them a well-earned pat on the back for their unprecedented launch success with the PlayStation 4.
A Special award was given to Grand Theft Auto Five for its groundbreaking success, and the MMO and RPG community got its fair share of attention too, with the likes of Dragon's Crown, Phantasy Star Online 2 and The Legend of Heroes: Trajectory Blend all getting a look in.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn received more than just a User's Choice Award too. The MMORPG received an Eastern and Western launch date for the PlayStation 4; set for release in April 2014 in both the United States and Japan.
The PlayStation 4 port of Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn will be shown Live in Naoki Yoshida's upcoming, Producer's Live Letter on December 14th on the official Square Enix live-stream. In addition to this, a global beta of the PlayStation 4 version is set to launch in alignment with the Japanese release of the Next-Gen console on February 14th.
Lastly, Square Enix hammered home confirmation that there will be no launch date for Xbox 360 or Xbox One due to Microsoft's lack of co-operation with cross-platform development.
With DC Universe Online and Warframe already on Sony's new console; the addition of Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn is making the PS4 seem like the obvious next-gen console of choice for MMO fans. Let's hope Microsoft come up with something soon!
