PS4 version of Final Fantasy 14 gets a Beta
Today at the Sony Computer Entertainment conference in Japan, it was announced that Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn will launch as a Beta in February alongside the Japanese release of the PS4.
Furthering on from our story about the fantastic, but floundering MMO last week; as an additional treat for the struggling PS3 adopters of the game, they will be getting free access to the PS4's Beta version.
Final Fantasy 14 has suffered a lot of launch issues, particularly on the PS3, where gamers have had limited character creation options and the inability to log onto many of its serers, due to unexpected demand. In addition to appeasing the PS3 crowd with extended free trials and Beta access, Square-Enix have assured the playstation fans that they will be able to carry over their PS3 character data and continue on the PS4 version seamlessly when the PS4 version becomes available. It has been confirmed that this too will be at no cost to the players, suggesting that a character transition may also be available for PC players at a price.
The press release stated;
"Furthermore, those who are currently playing the PS3 version of FFXIV: ARR will not have to re-buy the game on PS4 and will be able to transition to playing on PS4 at no additional cost. They will even be able to carry over their character data and continue playing on the new platform."
So that's a whole free game for the PS3 fans; Sony are really making ammends for their server issues!
Square Enix also adknowledged the current problems they've had with the PS3 version of the RPG and reiterated that they are doing everything they can to keep the service running smoothly.
At the same conference, it was also announced that the PS4 will be launching in Japan on February 22nd; 3 months after the US release, giving you plenty of time to level up and get ready for the transition.
