EVE Online’s Odyssey expansion brings back wanderlust on June 4
Two months to go before EVE Online’s 19th expansion delivers massive exploration improvements.
Developer CCP Games said pilots who have been frustrated with the sometimes tedious exploration mechanics will appreciate the brand-new scanning mechanic, a more accessible user interface and more enticing rewards for finding and interacting with hidden locations.
“All of Odyssey’s exploration changes are designed to make space feel even more alive and they will make it easier and more compelling for pilots to forge their path through the mysterious and dangerous universe,” said CCP on the new expansion which also doubles as the tenth year anniversary celebration for the long-running space mmorpg.
EVE Online veterans and new pilots alike are expected to benefit from the changes, and open up exploration as a comparably fulfilling activity as mission running or PvP.
CCP said there will be universe-wide resource redistribution and ship rebalancing, both meant to keep pilots on their toes, and stir up exciting new conflicts for whole alliances to overcome.
New ships, star base improvements and graphics updates have also been confirmed.
CCP said more details about the EVE Online Odyssey expansion will be released in the coming months leading up to the June 4 release. Major content should be unveiled in next month’s EVE Fanfest, along with other grand plans the rpg games online developer has brewing in the pipeline. The sold-out fan gathering to be held in Reykjavik, Iceland will even feature the latest version for its EVE Online-linked PlayStation 3 shooter title, DUST 514.
