End of Nations is an mmorts developed by Petroglyph Games and published by Trion Worlds. The two game companies joined forces to bring together two genres: rts and mmo. Petroglyph created a pure rts core for End of Nations, sprinkled some of the social aspects of an mmo along with some rpg development features. Trion Worlds announced that End of Nations will be free to play and the subscription fee will be entirely optional. Everyone will get to experience the same content and earn the same rewards. Trion Worlds and Petroglyph Games stated several times that End of Nations will NOT be a “pay to win” type of game. The End of Nations story is an extremely realistic scenario. In a distant future financial collapse brought down the most powerful nations. An organization named United Nations takes control and tries to reshape the whole world under their rules. Two faction rise and stand against the new Order of Nations. As one can guess, these two factions are also at war with each other. You will be playing End of Nations as a commander under a chosen faction. Each faction has 2 forces. The Liberation Front has Spartan and Patriot. The Shadow Revolution has Wraith and Phantom. Each force has specific units, structures and commander abilities.
End of Nations starts with Assault on Widow's Wall tutorial mission. This mission will give new players a very basic idea of what's going on in End of Nations. It will take you around 10 minutes to finish the tutorial mission so don't expect to learn much from it. After finishing it you will be taken to the War Room. On the World Map you will see the playable battlegrounds and faction control. Liberation Front is listed in orange. Shadow Revolution is listed in green. The Armory is the place where you can spend in game money to hire new units, upgrade them, acquire improved buildings and choose your commander abilities. The Company concept in End of Nations mmorts is something similar to the class concept class in an rpg game. A company consists of units, buildings and commander abilities. Your commander can have only one company active at a time. You can freely switch between them in the Armory. Changing the company during a match will cost you resources. You can upgrade a unit’s stats by adding mods to that certain unit.
When you want to join a multiplayer match in End of Nations, switch to world map view and look for a battle map. When you select a battle map an info window will open. In that window you will see the required number of players and the victory condition. The objective of a match can be resource gathering, capture base, hold point and so on. End of Nations is a complex mmo. It takes time to get used to all the features. Mastering it will probably take even more time. It will all be worth it in the end because End of Nations is truly a groundbreaking game.
