Overview

Dragon’s Prophet is a free MMORPG from developer Runewaker Entertainment, creators of the popular Runes of Magic free RPG and published by Sony Online Entertainment (SOE). Dragon’s Prophet is set in the fantasy world of Auratia where dragons roam the skies and where players can capture, train and ride the magical flying beasts. There will be more than 300 unique dragons to chase down, each having special skills and abilities unlocked after dedicated training. Dragon taming is one of the core mechanics of the game, and fans can expect to spend countless hours chasing down these fearsome predators.

Dragon’s Prophet uses an action-based combat system with an auto-targeting and combo system. This gives players a more “realistic” battle action gameplay since it puts more premium on positioning compared to traditional stand-point-and-click RPG Games. Although it offers only a limited number of classes – four at launch – and all function basically as DPS builds. From these basic classes, players can then tweak their combat style depending on their selected dragon companion. Dragons empower them with active skills that can complement their offense, defense, support and utility in solo or group fights. You can and will be encouraged to switch dragons depending on the enemy at hand. This gives you all the incentive to capture as many different dragons as possible. Players also won’t have to wait long to fight their first dragon. In the first few hours, there will be dragon encounters unlike in other games where dragons are reserved as endgame encounters.

Right out of the box, Dragon’s Prophet has a robust suite of MMORPG features. A fully supported housing system lets fans build grand structures that can be decorated over time. Decorations can be looted from mobs, bought from vendors, or crafted by players. On a grander scale, guild leaders will also have their hands full not only in organizing dragon hunts, but also coordinating large-scale projects via the Frontier system. Guild leaders can build a kingdom in-game, complete with a powerful military force and empowered citizenry that adds a political diversion from all the dragon taming activities. Of course, sustaining an empire will be a constant struggle as rival guilds can amass and conquer via massive-scaled PvP campaigns. The action comes alive on-screen with the game’s beautifully vivid graphics. Characters, abilities, dragons, structures and environments are rendered in great detail.

Dragon’s Prophet joins the ranks of free RPG games online under the SOE publisher umbrella. Optional downloadable content or DLC will be available for purchase after its release, which is scheduled sometime in spring of 2013. The game will also have a Station Cash microtransactions shop, offering “hundreds” of items and weapons for characters as well as traditional services and special content.
