Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls targeted to begin preloading this month
Community manager Lylirra confirmed that predownloads for the Diablo 3 expansion, Reaper of Souls, is "targeted this month if all goes well." For convenience, the download will begin automatically once players fire up their Battle.net launcher.
This wil be the earliest time players can conveniently preload the expansion as a background download option even without having to load up the game launcher or opening their Battle.net desktop app.
Don't want to preload content because it might cause lag while playing the action RPG or other mmo games? Well, there's the alternative of waiting for patch Diablo 3 pre-expansion patch 2.0.1, which will contain all the expansion data on the normal disc.
"So, for players who don't predownload, they'll basically get everything that's available whenever they patch up to 2.0.1," said Lylirra.
The sad news is that Blizzard still has no release date for 2.0.1 at this time. Still, hopes are high that the pre-expansion patch will arrive by next month given that Reaper of Souls is set to officially go live by March 25.
But players who purchase Reaper of Souls will have to wait until March 25 to be able to access expansion-only content such as the new class Crusader, Act V, and Adventure Mode. These features will not be unlocked for free players.
