Black Gold Online devs discuss life after alpha
The dust has settled, and in the aftermath of the Black Gold Online alpha test, the devs over at Snail USA have taken the time to answer some of the alpha tester's woes, doubts and queries in their latest "Ask the Devs" Q&A session.
Looking on into the beta, the devs have revealed that there's a lot more in store for the fantasy, steampunk mmo. Here's a quick rundown on what you can expect:
1. "Perfect Unbalancing"
For starters, rather than creating a balanced vehicular combat systems, they'll be attempting a "rock, paper, scissors" format; meaning each carrier will have weaknesses to certain types, but strengths against others. On top of this, players will be able to create and customize their own carriers by acquiring certain resources. There will be a unique development tree for carrier progression.
2. New classes
The beta will mix more classes and races into the mmorpg, taking classes up from 8 to 12 and the races up from 2 to 4. There will be 6 races in the final iteration of the game, with the Upryian vampire and Aurek races being the last to drop.
The existing classes will all be receiving some TLC too, prior to the beta.
3. Endgame features
Although no endgame spoilers were revealed, an endgame feature called the "Energy Well" was mentioned. Energy Well battles will take place, requiring players to fight over control of the Energy Well with high-level carriers, unlocking more advanced Energy Well-only carriers which will be required to succeed. The Energy Well will also provide its own unique crafting and instances.
