Historical Battles Arrive in World of Tanks
Players in World of Tanks will now be able to take part in the famous battles they've only read about. Version 9.0 for the free mmofps comes out tomorrow, and part of that release is that historical battles arrive in World of Tanks. While other features are being upgraded, such as ten major tanks getting a massive graphic overhaul, and new physics features being implemented, it's the new battles that have tank commanders gunning their engines.
There are three historical battles that players can engage in: the Battle of Kursk, the Battle of the Bulge, and Operation: Spring Awakening. These battles are open to every player that has at least one tank from that particular era. However, players of this mmo fps won't have a free hand as their tanks will have to conform to historical accuracy. Players can only use vehicles that were in use during that particular historical battle, and players will not be able to modify the loadouts of their vehicle. Each vehicle will be equipped for the battle as it was done historically. The battles themselves may not feature an equal number on each team as the number of combatants will vary depending upon vehicle type.
World of Tanks is also introducing four new tanks with Version 9.0: the Pz. Kpfw. IV Ausf. A (a tier III medium tank), the Pz. Kpfw. IV Ausf. D (tier IV medium tank), the StuG III Ausf. B (tier IV tank destroyer), and the SU-85I (tier V tank destroyer).
So, will you be able to change history and lead the Germans to victory against the Russians at the battles of Kursk or Operation: Spring Awakening? Will Allied forces repeat their triumph at holding back the German advance during the Battle of the Bulge? Now, intrepid World of Tanks players can find out as they relive the battles of World War II with the new historical battles feature.
