Watch the gorgeous first teaser trailer for upcoming Sanctum sequel
Sanctum 2, the sequel to the hit shooter-slash-tower defense hybrid game Sanctum, shows off its noticeably higher graphics quality.
In the new teaser trailer below from indie developer Coffee Stain Studios, we get a glimpse of the main protagonist for Sanctum 2 walking across a craggy field. Suddenly, walkways and defensive artillery come crashing down from the sky, in reference to the tower defense building strategy that has defined the franchise.
The final scene shows the anti-air ballistic cannon shooting a flying alien with such force that explodes into bubbles of blood—a mix of humor and violence that we should expect more of when the Sanctum sequel releases sometime this year.
Not much has been revealed about Sanctum 2. Among the few details known about it is that it will support up to 4-player co-op – not exactly mmorpg scale but it should inspire some multiplayer mayhem – and that there will be four elite soldiers from which players can choose to control. The sequel will take place in the human colony world called LOEK III, with the main storyline revolving around the protection of the Cores from a mysterious and destructively aggressive race of aliens.
Coffee Stain Studios has assured fans that the sequel will continue to offer a mix of fps mmo and tower defense mechanics like the original Sanctum, combining them into an action-packed, alien-busting multiplayer experience.
Sanctum 2 will be available on PC, XBLA and PSN.
