Overview

First person shooters are revolutionized in Renegade X, the free mmofps developed by Totem Arts. The action is relentless in this spiritual successor to Westwood's popular Command and Conquer: Renegade. Grand strategy and personal tactics combine in this thrilling shooter as RTS elements are grafted onto fps action.

Players choose to play one of two different factions in this mmofps: the GDI or the Nod. The Global Defense Initiative (GDI) is a UN international military force committed to world order and peacekeeping. By comparison, the Brotherhood of Nod are a messianic international terrorist network that aims to push humanity to the next stage of evolution. Players can pick from a number of classes, and there are special classes unique to each faction. The primary game mode of Renegade X is the Command and Conquer mode. Here, each team attempts to destroy their opponent's base while simultaneously defending their own base from attack.

However, each team's base is comprised of more than one building, and each building structure in Renegade X serves a different function. For example, the power plant powers the base's defenses and allows the production facilities to operate. The refinery provides the player with credits, which are used to upgrade the character, buy weapons, construct vehicles, and gain special items. Credits can also be gained by attacking enemy units, structures, and repairing friendly structures. Players can spend those credits in terminals that are found in various buildings within that team's base. If a building is destroyed, the team loses access to the options granted by that building. An example would be the airfield getting destroyed, which will then cut off access to the production of aircraft. Buildings can be destroyed through various means, such as direct bombardment or stealthy infiltration by infantry.

Renegade X uses the Unreal Engine 3 for smooth gameplay performance. Gamers will be able to engage in up to 64 players battles as both teams fight for supremacy. Players will be able to manage their own economies within the game, have over thirty weapons to choose from, be able to construct fifteen unique vehicles, and engage in calling in some support in the form of airstrikes, ion cannons, and nuclear strikes. Unlike the earlier C&C games, players can capture tech buildings that they can then use to gain special items and resources, but the enemy team can forcibly take them back.

Renegade X is a totally free mmo fps for players to enjoy. There is no monetization in the game to get in the way of non-stop action, whether you're on the ground, in a tank, or flying through the air.
