Renaissance Heroes, developed by Bridea and published by ChangYou, is a MMO FPS set in the 16th century. Renaissance Heroes is also known as DaVinci Online. The idea for Renaissance Heroes is quite original. The most common setting for today’s FPS games is a highly militarized environment in a sci fi world. Weapons are designed after real ones. Creatures are usually aliens or humanoid species. Renaissance Heroes takes a different approach and creates a most uncommon game world. Renaissance Heroes is a unique blend of fantasy inspired by one of the most influential cultural movements. The developers used Unreal Engine 3 for Renaissance Heroes.

Even though Renaissance Heroes is a game for FPS fans it doesn’t mean you need to be a hardcore action shooter player to enjoy it. Renaissance Heroes is designed in such a way that even casual or starting FPS MMO players can enjoy it. Gameplay wise, Renaissance Heroes has traditional arena FPS mechanics. A good thing is that Renaissance Heroes can be played even in short 20-30 minutes sessions. You don’t need to spend lots and lots of hours leveling or questing. This doesn’t mean that Renaissance Heroes is a game without lore. The entire story is built around Leonardo da Vinci, one of the most talented and creative persons that ever existed. According to Renaissance Heroes story, one of his most impressive creations was a device that has the power to change the world. After his death, the plans and patterns for this creation were lost. Alliances were formed and a quest to find and put together the plans started. Players are given a wide array of heroes to choose from. Each one of the Renaissance Heroes playable characters has a unique physical aspect and different fighting techniques. As players advance they will unlock more character slots.

There is a good selection of Renaissance Heroes weapons. Renaissance Heroes has ranged and melee weapons. Machine guns or sniper rifles have no place in a Renaissance game. Renaissance Heroes weapons include bows, axes or hammers to stay in line with Renaissance Heroes style. Aisha is a Renaissance Heroes playable character skilled with crossbows. Bart has a bonus for melee attacks. There are Renaissance Heroes missions against challenging AI controlled mobs and also multiple PvP modes. Teams of up to 12 players can be formed. Some of the modes are deathmatch, team deathmatch and capture the flag scenarios. Players can fight in 1 vs. 1 duels too. Achievements are another Renaissance Heroes feature. Renaissance Heroes is a free MMO with a ranking system to keep track of players progress. All characters created during beta sessions will remain in game when Renaissance Heroes officially launches.
