Overview

Engage in gritty close quarters combat in Insurgency, the mmofps developed by New World Interactive. Featuring multiplayer and co-op play, this shooter is the follow up game to the award-winning Source mod. This game strives to strike the perfect balance between prolonged action and one-life gameplay. Insurgency is highly lethal but also fun and highly competitive.

Action is the hallmark of Insurgency, and players will find that there are over twenty weapons with numerous attachments for use in battle. The weapon behavior is realistic with a free-aim system, intense suppression effects, and no crosshairs. This mmo fps allows players to focus on the combat as the game's UI and HUD are simplified and clean. As the player's characters progress, they can upgrade and modify their gear, which has the additional effect of impacting the character's weight, stamina, and movement speed. Gamers create characters based upon role-based classes in order to fit into a squad, and each class is customizable to reflect the needs of the current team. Another gameplay aspect is that the game uses 3D VOIP, which means that both friendly and enemy players can hear you if they are within range of your character. When in doubt, be quiet as you don't know who may be listening!

Insurgency features dedicated server support for PC and Linux, and the game can be played on both PC and Mac OSX as it also supports multiplayer cross-compatibility. Overall, there are five multiplayer modes that can support up to 32 players on a map: Skirmish, Strike, Firefight, Search & Destroy, and VIP. These multiplayer modes focus on territorial control, escorting high value targets, and destroying weapon caches. There are also two cooperative game modes where a player can team up with friends to either undertake mission-based objectives in Checkpoint co-op or fight off waves of enemies in Outpost co-op. Lastly, there are two classic game modes (Push and Battle) that are featured on the ported versions of the original mod's maps. If you're looking for a new challenge, you can create your own maps using the Insurgency SDK and scripting system.

This fps mmo features twelve multiplayer and cooperative maps that take place in six distinct environments ranging from Iraq to Afghanistan to Somalia. The six different environments are: siege, contact, market, heights, district, and ministry. Each environment provides some unique challenges for the players. Your team's survival in Insurgency depends upon working together to secure important strongholds and destroying the supplies of your enemies. This first person shooter delivers intense urban combat that is both realistic and enjoyable.
