Ballistic is the free mmofps developed by Aquiris Game Studio and playable on Facebook. This AAA quality shooter features two rival factions, the Smokes and the MFA, fighting it out over control of a valuable energy source. The game's maps aren't your usual fps warehouse or industrial park. Instead, the frantic action takes place in real world settings such as a museum or shopping mall. The graphics are highly detailed and the game uses the Unity engine. Maps in Ballistic tend to be smaller in scale than most other shooters, thus emphasizing quick, brutal battles and a faster gameplay experience. An average match should take place within five to ten minutes.
This browser-based mmofps has the standard bells and whistles players love. Match types encompass the normal deathmatch, king of the hill, and capture points. Players can customize their character's appearance, skills, and weapons. There is no set class in Ballistic. Instead, players can choose different loadouts to bring to the match. Players can level up and earn credits to purchase guns and enhancements. Career points are spent on a skill tree that enhances your combat ability, such as being able to use a SMG as a secondary weapon or inflict silent kills with your knife.
The different loadouts in Ballistic offer their own unique perks. Players can choose perks such as the ability to do additional damage with specific weapon types or being able to throw two grenades at the same time. If you wish to drag your foe down with you in defeat, you can choose a last stand perk that allows you to take a few last shots before you respawn or the perk that allows you to drop a grenade when you respawn. Truly vindictive players will choose both perks to give enemy players a big surprise.
While there is a cash shop in Ballistic, this does not translate into pay-to-win. The game is designed to be equally fair to all players, even to those who continue to play for free. The new guns that players can unlock in the cash shop are not any more powerful than the weapons available for free. Players will also be available to purchase new perks and avatar customization options. If players do not wish to partake of the cash shop, they can eventually earn the different weapons and perks through gameplay. The cash shop only gives those who want the new weapons an option to get them now. All in all, Ballistic serves up a heaping dose of quick, intense first person shooter combat in a highly detailed setting without the need for any pesky downloading.
