Games Workshop reveals upcoming Warhammer 40k MOBA
December marks the unfortunate closure of the doomed MMORPG, Warhammer Online; a game that Warhammer fans tried and tried to support, but unfortunately the games license-holders failed to reciprocate. However, as one door closes, another one opens...or two doors, in this case. Although Warhammer Online will be pulling the plug on December 18th, Warhammer fans now have two new MMO options to look forward to.
Earlier this year, it was announced that a new Warhammer MMORPG was on the way, called Warhammer 40k: Eternal Crusade, and now, today, Eutechynx Studios announced that they had a Warhammer MOBA in development. Warhammer 40k: Storm of Vengeance is continuing the Games Workshop franchise with a "lane strategy" game, where you will defend the planet by commanding 100 Dark Angel Space Marines. Set during the Warhammer 40k lineage, the MOBA is being developed for both PC and Mobile platforms and is in its early stages, with the partnership between Eutechynx and Games Workshop only just being announced.
"I am very excited that our new partnership with Games Workshop will allow us to bring the world of Warhammer 40,000 to dedicated fans around the world via our new mobile division." Eutechynx have over two and a half decades of gaming pedigree, with some pupular titles in their arsenal, including their recent mobile strategy, Ninja Cats vs Samurai Dogs, but this is by far one of their most ambitious projects.
There's been no release date as of yet, so stay tuned to mmo-play for info as it's released.
