Turbine hit with more layoffs
Turbine Incorporated, the mmo masterminds behind the Infinite Crisis MOBA, Lord of the Rings Online, Dungeons and Dragons Online and Asheron's Call are thought to have laid off more staff, as rumors have slowly emerged across the forums and Twitter this week.
No reliable, confirmed figures have been announced yet, although Warner have confirmed that more layoffs have taken place. Allegedly, up to 25% of their workforce may be facing layoffs, in particular; across Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeons and Dragons Online.
Rumors began to emerge on the Friday, when news spread that Turbine had let go of a lot of temporary staff, with full-time staff being given their notice on Thursday. It turns out the rumors were partly true, and staff began taking to twitter last night, a day earlier than expected, to announce that their careers at Turbine had come to a close. Producers and developers on the Lord of the Rings Online team have already been confirmed, as well as at least three content designers from the Dungeons and Dragons Online development team.
The last lot of Turbine layoffs came back in winter 2012, following the completion of some of their projects, and many are wondering if the new Turbine cull is being carried out in order to streamline staff; as Infinite Crisis finishes its development phase.
No news yet on how it will affect Turbine Inc's mmo games, but we'll keep you posted as more comes to light.
