Developer Rockstar Games spent most of the video showing off the exciting freedom players can enjoy while playing GTA Online, while still retaining the core structured elements that make the franchise so raucously addicting and fun.
Meanwhile on the official GTA Online website, it has been revealed that the game mode will offfer a persistent online world for 16 players.
"We've taken the fundamental GTA concepts of freedom, ambient activity and mission-based gameplay and made them available to multiple players in an incredibly detailed and responsive online world," said Rockstar Games.
GTA Online's core appeal will be in delivering deep exploration and co-op options for fans. Friends can choose to work together to complete missions and participate in events, or go solo and tackle the dangerous world alone, or compete with each other in traditional game modes with the entire community as their potential match rivals.
New content will be created both by Rockstar Games and the Grand Theft Auto community. Access to GTA Online is free and will come with every retail copy of GTA V when the title launches on October 1.
