Doctor Who: Worlds in Time is closing
Whovians worldwide bow their heads for a moment of silence today, as news spreads that the free online rpg, Doctor Who: Worlds in Time has announced its closure.
The BBC, who operate the browser mmo emailed their loyal fans last night, to inform them that their service would discontinue on February 28th.
"We want to thank the loyal players of Worlds in Time for supporting the game through its years of operation."
The Doctor Who: Worlds in Time closure means that the BBC is no longer accepting currency transactions, but if you still have in-game currency, it can be spent up over the next 2 months.
As a gesture of thanks, and to somewhat soften the blow, the BBC have issued a discount code, that can be used in their online store for other BBD related products, including Doctor Who memorabilia. If you have an account with Doctor Who: Worlds in Time, check your inboxes for further details.
The 2D flash mmo game features puzzle solving and detective work to solve mysteries through time and space. This was the first ever Doctor Who online game, allowing Whovians to socialize with fellow doctors and pit themselves against all of Dr Who's classic enemies; from Cybermen, to Daleks, to Weeping Angels.
If you haven't had the chance to play it yet, be sure to give it a chance before the Tardis doors close.
