Epiphanies occur when the player manages to accumulate enough bun, meat, and wine to satisfy the general. Equipment can be used to further enhance the combat prowess of generals. The game also has 20 different army types under the command of your generals. Each army type has different strengths and weaknesses, such as swordsmen are strong against spearmen or riders are strong against swordsmen but weak against spearmen.
Players can gain rewards for completing quests and for fighting battles. The main quest reward is silver, which is one of the basic currencies in the game. You'll spend silver to upgrade buildings and equipment while you'll use gold to purchase brand new equipment. If you're victorious in battle, you can get equipment drops and merits, which are used to speed up training time. Battles are fought automatically, which shows the importance the having your squad organized correctly. As players win battles and increase their level in Tripod: Romance of the Three Kingdoms, they can venture out to the larger world and come into conflict with other players. If you're looking for an alliance, you can join a clan and work with others to further your conquest. For truly epic battles, clans can launch an attack with up to fifty members.
