Runescape 3 has launched
Runescape 3 is not a new game but a major enhancement to one of the most iconic and most popular free to play mmo games in the world, ushering in new features such as a new engine, upgraded visuals, customizable interfaces and new content.
To mark the Runescape 3 launch, the development team led by creative director Alex de Rakoff will be rolling out the Battle of Lumbridge event, the first gaming experience forged by players.
Runescape 3 represents a more exciting version of the Runescape world with player-driven dynamic events set to impact content and lore. Developers also made sure to upgrade "nearly every aspect" of the original Runescape that should make it fresh even for its most stalwart veterans.
Runescape 3 is now available to play in five languages and in 190 countries around the world, making it one of the most accessible free online rpg games now on the market.
Meanwhile, Mark Gerhard, CEO of Jagex, stated, “The Runescape 3 development team has worked tirelessly to delight our community with this significant upgrade. Married to the concept of our players determining the future of Runescape, we believe Runescape 3 is the most ambitious game ever launched on this cutting-edge future technology and lays the foundation for our upcoming expansion onto tablets.”
Gerhard added that the launch of Runescape 3 should bolster interest for the MMO as it enters its 13th year in the gaming world.
