Smash foes at your casual leisure with Orbs CCG, the collectible card browser game developed by Jerpix Games. Players duel one another with custom decks in either real-time battles or asynchronously whenever they wish. While this multiplayer ccg is similar to other card games, it does boast some innovative new features that make it uniquely stand out.
As is standard in most collectible card games, the goal of Orbs CCG is to reduce your opponent from twenty health points down to zero. To reach this goal, each player has a deck of fifty cards that they've constructed. Each player alternates turns, with each player getting a Defense Phase and a Main Phase. Players defend themselves from attackers during the Defense Phase and go on the offensive and play cards on their Main Phase. Sounds similar to other collectible card games, but there are some twists.
First, there is no "mana screw" or "mana flooding" in Orbs CCG. This free browser game has an alternate method of generating energy for the player to use. There are no specific energy generating cards, such as lands, in this game. Instead, when a player discards a card from their hand, they get an energy point of that card's color for the remainder of the game. Thus if you discard a red card, you'll receive a red energy point every turn until the game ends. Players can discard one card per turn to generate energy. This elegant system allows players a greater amount of flexibility when planning their strategy during gameplay.
Another unique feature is the Bench. This is a unique game zone in Orbs CCG in which any card can be placed there by paying its energy cost. This card is then placed facedown and only awaits for the player's decision to use it during either the Defense Phase or the Main Phase. This feature allows the player to bluff his opponent as he wonders what card you're holding back, jus ready to pounce. Some cards gain benefits from being placed on the Bench, such as creatures that gain strength each turn they're benched. Trap cards are used exclusively from the bench and activate when certain events happen. An example of a trap card is the Trap Spider, which creates a spider ally for you when your opponent attacks you.
Orbs CCG can be played in real-time duels, with players having three minutes to play their turn, or asynchronously, such as Words with Friends. When you choose to play asynchronously, you play one turn at a time at your leisure. When your turn is done, notification is sent to your opponent, who can play his turn at any time he wishes. This allows you play the game in small doses throughout the day, such as a quick turn during a commercial or while waiting for the bus.
While free-to-play, players can purchase packs of additional cards from the cash shop. Orbs CCG also gives free packs away for referrals. As the game is browser based, you can play almost anywhere as the game runs on PCs, Mac, and Linux. If you truly want to master the game, you can watch replays of matches as all games are viewable in replay mode and you can share a game by using its canonical URL. This allows you to show off your gaming skills by showing your opponent's humiliating defeat by sharing the link.
