General War: Memories is a free browser mmo strategy developed by Gamebox. General War takes players back to the brutal frontlines of WWII combat. Players can play in all the classic battles that occurred during World War II as well as engage in new battles. Armchair generals will have to use a variety of strategies, fighting alone or alongside friends and allies, to be victorious.
What really sets General War: Memories apart from other browser based strategy games is the attention to historical detail. All of the weapons, equipment, and vehicles found in the game are based upon the real items used in WWII. This historical accuracy also carries over to the battlefield with the terrain and maps based upon the real-life fields of battle where soldiers fought and died. Players have a wide variety of troops that they can command, such as infantry, artillery, tanks, and generals. Troops gain experience through battle and can be upgraded. In addition, units can be enhanced with equipment to increase their abilities. Equipment can also be upgraded as well. Players will also gain historical generals to help lead their troops in combat. Generals are not a unit on the battlefield, but rather they provide additional bonuses to troops under their command.
The player's city in General War: Memories serves as their home base. The central structure in the city is the HQ. As the HQ gains in level, the more structures are unlocked such as arsenals (used for upgrading weapons) to the tax office (to levy silver to use to purchase items) to the shop (where you can purchase additional equipment). Each structure can increase in level as well, unlocking even more options. The higher the HQ level, increasingly more powerful troop types become available.
Combat in General War: Memories is turn-based so you can take the time to consider your strategy. Players click on each unit and give them their orders and who they want them to fire upon. As you level, you can pick up battle skills that you can activate during your turn to give you an advantage. If you don't feel like making hard decisions, you can click on the "auto battle" button to have the game play for you. You can always click back to manual decision making. While General War: Memories is a free mmo, players can purchase a VIP membership for 30 days to get increased bonuses and additional items available for purchase in their city's shop. Players can play campaigns against the computer or square off against other players for ultimate bragging rights.
