Overview

Fortuna is a browser based free MMO developed and published by Perfect World Entertainment. The game is set during the age of Renaissance in Europe. Some of the most influential royal families like Medici or the Tudors make an appearance as playable factions. Players start small but with great ambitions. Relying solely on military power is not always a good idea. Coalitions must be forged and treaties established. Diplomacy and social interaction play a big part in Fortuna. Trading resources with other players is a good way to make money. There are plenty of reasons to join an alliance. Friendly players can back you up in case of attacks or you can team up with others and start an alliance war.

Players choose to join one of the 3 families: the Tudors, Medici or Fugger. Tudors have military power, Medici are specialized in politics and Fuggers know how to manage their finances. There is no advantage or disadvantage when choosing a certain family. In the end, it’s the players skills that matter. As representative of a chosen family, players must strive to achieve glory and dominate their enemies. An empire is more than an army. You will need to build the necessary economic structures that fuel your war machine. Fortuna has lots of buildings with different purposes but each one is important. New players should follow the construction quests. These are small tasks that guide players with building order. In the building panel you can see which buildings are available, requirements and necessary resources. Military units are recruited from the Barracks. There are more than 20 types of troops. To make an army even more efficient, Fortuna allows players to hire military commanders that lead the units into battle. Heroes (military commanders) have stats and wear gear. Each one has unique skills. With every military victory, heroes gain XP and level up. This feature makes Fortuna similar to MMORPG games.

Fortuna farms are separated from the main city. All resource gathering and processing facilities belong to a farm. You can build sawmills, quarries, foundries and mills. Make sure that you have enough citizens to work else, these buildings are useless. The story mode military campaign has lots of missions that require defeating enemies. This is a nice Fortuna feature that teaches combat basics and lets players experiment with various battle strategies. Arena is the place for PvP battles, this feature unlocks at level 20. Fortuna is a browser MMO with lots of events. Some events last for days, some for just a few hours. The daily check list displays all activities that you should complete every day. This is just a suggestion as every player is free to enjoy Fortuna as he or she sees fit.
