Dragon City is a Facebook browser MMO developed and published by Social Media. The studio has created lots of other popular Facebook games like Social Empires or Social Wars. Their newest project, Dragon City, has rapidly gained a loyal fan base. Dragon City is a game about breeding and raising dragons. It can be accessed by anyone who has a Facebook account. Dragon City has cute cartoonish 2D graphics. The story is minimal. There is no primary quest line or missions. The main and only Dragon City objective is raising dragons. Players get XP and gain levels. Each level opens up more features and Dragon City options.
There are 3 Dragon City aspects that dragon breeders have to worry about. A dragon hatches from an egg so eggs must be acquired. Dragons must be fed. The third aspect is about getting gold (Dragon City money) to support your dragon menagerie. There are several ways to obtain Dragon City gold. Social interaction is a big part of Dragon City gameplay. You can receive gold from other Dragon City players. Gold is rewarded for completing certain Dragon City mini objectives. You can sell some of your dragons for gold. Daily events or bonuses are another way to get Dragon City money. The other Dragon City currency is gems. This is premium currency. Like in all free browser games, gems can be bought with real money. A really nice feature is that Dragon City offers alternate ways to get gems that don’t require spending real money. Gold can be exchanged for gems. Every time you level up you get gems. Taking part in competitions against other players also rewards gems. Completing some Dragon City challenges is another way to get gems. Farms are the primary way to produce food for your dragons. There are many types of Dragon City farms. When players level up they unlock farm upgrades and different types of food.
Not all Dragon City dragons are the same. There are 9 pure dragon races. All Dragon City races can be combined to create mixed breeds. Dragon combat is Dragon City PvP feature. Each player chooses a dragon and fights against another player’s dragon. The combat mechanics aren’t very complicated. Dragons keep fighting until one loses its entire HP. There are 2 types of attacks: normal and critical. Some dragon races are weaker or stronger against certain other races. For example, fire dragons are good against water and weak against metal. The training center is the place where dragons can improve their combat moves. A dragon must be at least level 15 to train in the training center. Dragon City is a free to play MMO for casual gamers that don’t want to trouble themselves with complicated mechanics or strategies.
