Deepolis is a deep sea based submarine MMORPG developed and published by browser games veterans, Bigpoint. Deepolis revolves around 3 warring factions battling for survival, Nauts, Scion and Jafnhar. Deepolis uses simple controls with a fluid UI, players move their submarine around with the left mouse button, using spacebar to stop and turning the mouse to change direction. There are a variety of weapons to use but to begin with you get access to a simple machine gun and a very powerful torpedo launcher. Certain weapons have longer cooldowns than others, forcing players to be intelligent with their weapon use instead of just spamming abilities over and over.
Deepolis shares some basic mechanics with the popular space themed MMO, Eve Online. Players can head out from the deep water stations, exploring the nearby seas for monsters, treasure and other players. Deepolis has a great radar system that lists all objects within a certain range, allowing players to find certain monsters, players or stations with a simple click. This aids exploring and really helps with the monster or item finding quests. The quest system is similar to that of other Bigpoint games, players don't have to collect quests from NPC's, they're simply unlocked once they reach the right level. Once a quest is complete you're instantly rewarded as long as you have room in your cargo hold.
The general aim of Deepolis is to earn enough money to improve and upgrade your submarine. Players do this by completing quests, killing other players or looting treasure from the oceans. Players that like to hunt monsters and find items will have to return to the deep sea stations to sell their goods to traders and repair their vessel. Deepolis also features the Bigpoint trademark of the Jackpot system, allowing players to win up to $10,000 a month in PvP competitions.
